Volunteer During Earth Month
It is also a great opportunity volunteer a few hours of your time and effort to assist in the community. Even though we are almost halfway through Earth Month, there are still over 65 volunteer opportunities available in central Ohio through the end of April. Many are workdays at neighborhood community gardens and urban farms. There are also litter cleanups and beautification projects.

Green Columbus Earth Day Celebration at the Scioto Audubon Center, 400 W Whittier St, Columbus, on April 26th from 11 am to 7 pm. It is one of the region’s biggest Earth Day events, featuring live music, environmental vendors, food trucks, dog agility shows, and fitness & family activities along the beautiful Scioto riverfront. We hope you will be able to attend and come and visit the Simply Living table.
Grove City EcoFest: April 18th from 9 am to 1 pm at the Grove City Town Center. Celebrate Earth Month in the heart of Grove City with eco-friendly vendors, activities, and community organizations.
Kids As Planet Protectors, An Earth Day Celebration: April 18th from 10 am to noon at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, 505 W Whittier St, Columbus. Participate at multiple Seeds of Caring activity stations and learn the importance of being kind to the Earth. Activities are most suitable for children ages 2-12.
Free Tree Giveaway: April 18th from 11 am to 2 pm at the Franklin Park Conservatory, 1777 E Broad St, Columbus. Pick up free tree saplings provided by Green Columbus and enjoy family‑friendly activities including a tree‑cookie craft for kids. Conservatory admission is required for indoor exhibits.
Community Seed/Plant Swap: April 19th from 4 to 6 pm at the MidOhio Farm on the Hilltop, 116 N Wheatland Ave, Columbus. A community-driven event designed for gardeners of all experience levels to swap plants and mingle. Bring seeds, plant starts, bulbs, and plant divisions to share or trade.
Make a Seed Bomb: April 19th from 11 am to 2 pm at the Sharon Woods Metro Park, 6911 Cleveland Ave, Columbus. Drop by the Naturalist’s Office and learn how to make a “Seed Bomb” to help celebrate Earth Day.
Leave No Trace, Earth Day Stewards: April 19th from 12:30 to 1:30 pm at the Battelle Darby Creek Nature Center, 1415 Darby Creek Drive, Galloway. Scavenger hunt to find what is out of place on a short trail. Learn how to help take care of the environment, plus a fun craft after the walk. Best for ages 6-12.
OSU Green Team ERG Earth Day Fair: April 22nd from 11 am to 2 pm at the Ross Heart Hospital Auditorium, 452 W 10th Ave, Columbus. Learn more about local sustainability efforts, earn prizes, and meet local sustainability groups.
Earth Day Extravaganza: April 22nd from 4 to 6 pm at Homestead Park’s Lakeside Pavilion, 4675 Cosgray Rd, Hilliard. Plant seeds, craft, learn to keep Mother Nature clean and healthy. This program is geared for ages 6-12, but all ages are welcome.
City of Powell Celebration: April 22nd from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Seldom Seen Park, 3232 Seldom Seen Rd, Powell. Explore the Seldom Seen Park wetlands and get an up-close look at wildlife with MAD scientists.
Birdhouse Craft: April 22nd from 3 to 5 pm at the Pickerington Library Sycamore Plaza, 7861 Refugee Rd, Pickerington. Teens will assemble simple, no-tools-needed birdhouses and decorate them with their own creative designs.
Earth Day S’mores & Cleanup Hike: April 22nd from 5 to 7 pm Scioto Grove Scioto Grove Metropark, 5172 Jackson Pike, Grove City. Enjoy some time outside celebrating Earth Day with a tasty treat! Stay for the Earth Day Cleanup Hike afterward to help us give back to the land. Meet at Arrowhead picnic area.
Earth Day Foraging Walk: April 23rd from 6 to 7 pm at the Franklin Park Conservatory’s AEP Education Pavilion, 1777 E Broad St, Columbus. Join a forager and chef for a walk around the Conservatory Community Garden Campus to learn about edible plants and how to incorporate wild foods into everyday life.
Columbus Zoo Earth Day Celebration Weekend: April 25th & 26th from 9 am to 5 pm at the Columbus Zoo, 4850 W Powell Rd, Powell. A two-day eco-celebration included with zoo admission featuring educational activity booths and entertainment. Activities include conservation-focused games, crafts, and special animal enrichment. And Party for the Planet, learn about the importance of being green through these high energy parties (10:30 am, 12:30 pm, & 2:30 pm) with dancing and other activities in the Conservation Courtyard.
Pickerington Earth Day Celebration: April 25th from 8 am to 4 pm in Pickerington Village, 100 Lockville Rd, Pickerington. Featuring a wildflower hike, free shrubs/trees from Wild Ones of Fairfield County, and the Lions Community Clean-up.

Earth Day 2 Mile Clean-up Hike – Alum Creek: Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 1:00 PM
Enjoy scenic views of the lake and explore the woodlands on a 2-mile hike with a naturalist, looking for trash to pick up along the way! Moderate difficulty – some hills and roots with potential mud. Best for ages 7+, great for teens and adults!
Nature Notebooks – Alum Creek: Wednesday, April 22, 2026 from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Celebrate Earth Day by making a nature notebook/journal entirely from recycled materials! Materials provided while supplies last. Best for ages 5+. Meet at the Nature Center at 2911 S. Old State Rd. Earth Day Celebration at Lynd’s Fruit Farm: Saturday, April 25, 2026 from 10 am – 5 pm
Enjoy shopping all the native plants grown in the greenhouse by Monarch Meadows. Green Bexley Earth Day and Arbor Day Month: All Day. Join us in celebrating Earth and Arbor Month all April long (and then some)! The City’s Sustainability Department, Green Bexley, Tree & Public Gardens Commission and Bexley Arboretum, and Rooted in Bexley have put together a slate of programs including a movie screening, author talks, litter pick ups with Mayor Kessler, Repair Café, Green Bexley Cleanup Day, and more!
